A multi-journal society experiencing steep increases in submission volume contacted KWF Editorial for help managing day-to-day workflows for some of the journals in their portfolio with the goal of improving their overall time to publication.

KWF Editorial was immediately able to provide the resources needed to process the client’s new submissions, providing rapid turnaround by processing each manuscript within 1-2 business days. Once sent for review, however, some manuscripts were lingering in the peer review process, and one of the goals of the society was to reduce the overall number of days from submission to decision. In order to assist the society in meeting this objective, KWF reviewed the journals’ late lists to develop a chasing strategy. Within 3 months of assuming responsibility for the journals, the time that manuscripts spent in peer review was cut by one-half. The client was pleased with the results and asked KWF Editorial to support the peer review of two additional journals.
