Cara S. Rivera
Cara co-founded KWF Consulting and KWF Editorial and from the start—nearly two decades ago now—has served as the companies’ managing director, working alongside our extraordinary staff to ensure that the organization continually meets and exceeds the needs of our clients, remains responsive to changes in the market, and is prepared for growth while upholding our commitment to delivering unparalleled service.
Before KWF Consulting and KWF Editorial, Cara was an executive responsible for business and technology development at Wolters Kluwer. In previous positions, she was a publisher, executive editor, and marketing director. Cara also served as managing editor of a specialty book series and worked in the editorial department of a large association. Cara received an undergraduate degree in English with high honors from Carleton College and an MBA in marketing and marketing research from DePaul University.

Debbie manages external recruitment projects for KWF Consulting clients. With more than 30 years in the recruiting and staffing industry, Debbie rose to the senior vice president level with Adecco, the world’s leading provider of human resources solutions, where she was responsible for over 40 offices and more than 120 employees. Over the years she has become highly skilled in the development of workforce solutions in large and small scale recruiting projects ensuring a positive end-to-end hiring experience for candidates and hiring managers. Since joining KWF Consulting in 2011, Debbie’s recruiting has focused exclusively on positions in the scholarly publishing marketplace.
Jen manages a mix of editorial and financial projects for KWF including environmental scans, publisher profiles, requests for proposals, competitor analyses, and financial spreadsheet development and analysis. She has worked in publishing for almost 20 years. As Manager of Custom Publishing at Wolters Kluwer, Jen worked with sales representatives to create custom publications.
Lisa undertakes publishing audits, requests for proposals, editor-in-chief recruiting, new product development, editorial analyses and benchmarking, and strategic planning for clients. An expert writer and former executive editor and publisher with Wolters Kluwer, Lisa brings to her consulting projects 30 years of experience developing information resources for healthcare professionals across multiple formats and sub-specialties.
Market Research and Development
Kevin leads KWF’s market research and development (MRD) team, which provides data and analysis to guide our clients in making decisions for their publishing programs. MRD is also a go-to resource for lead generation, marketing seeding, and other market development initiatives that help grow client sales. Kevin brings a wide breadth of experience in publishing and marketing to the KWF team. He was previously a journal publishing executive with Wolters Kluwer Health, where he focused on new product development and served as publisher for a portfolio of medical journals. He has also worked in health care as a managing editor, journalist, and communications consultant.
Karen’s expertise stems from 20 years with a top commercial publisher. She draws on her background in marketing and market research in her current role helping to develop markets through conducting teleresearch, telesales, and product demonstration webinars. Over the years, Karen has also become highly skilled in project and relationship management.
Annette designs, develops, and conducts a wide variety of marketing and research initiatives to create and increase product knowledge, awareness, and interest to generate prospects, leads, and ultimately client sales. Areas of expertise include lead generation and cultivation, market seeding, online product demonstration webinars, in-depth interviews, data mining and analysis, and quantitative and qualitative market research.
Deb oversees the KWF Consulting associates focused on market development for clients. Team tasks include lead generation, market seeding, telesales, online product demos, and data mining. Deb has more than 20 years of experience, previously with Wolters Kluwer, Cenveo, and Wiley. With KWF Consulting since 2006, Deb develops and implements solutions that ultimately grow client revenues.
Concetta helps clients develop and implement strategies that drive success. Her specific areas of focus include quantitative and qualitative market research, bibliometrics, and financial analysis. Over the course of her career, Concetta has worked across Medical, STEM, Social Science, and Humanities journals and books publishing. As a former Editorial Director at Taylor & Francis/Routledge, she was responsible for the editorial /fiscal management of large (proprietary and society-owned) journal portfolios and for editorial teams across the Social Sciences and the Humanities in the US and UK. Additionally, she holds an M.A. in English and Publishing from Rosemont College (Rosemont, PA).
Lisa works within the Business Management team as the Administrative Assistant. In this position, she supports each and every Peer Review Associate, Senior Peer Review Associate, Managing Editor, Editorial Director, and Managing Partner at KWF Editorial. With 12 years of administrative and human resource experience, Lisa brings a high level of organization and dedication to her position and the company.
Isabella works within the Business Management team as the Administrative Assistant. In this position, she supports all associates from both KWF Consulting Services and KWF Editorial Services. With 7 years of administrative experience, Isabella brings a high level of organization and dedication to her position and the company. She assists with company financials, such as invoices, as well as employee data management. Isabella holds a BS in Business Management from St. John’s University in New York.
Maureen provides accounting services to KWF Consulting including client billing, assistance with budgets and payroll, and preparation of financial statements. Maureen is the President of Bagwell Accounting Services (BAS) which provides financial strategy and operational accounting services to small businesses in the Baltimore area.
